JARELL PERRY – “LADY GAGA” (aka “Now”)

Los Angeles, CA – March 28, 2012 – Singer/Songwriter Jarell Perry releases his first single, “Lady Gaga”, a lead-in to his upcoming Simple Things EP. The Dub-Step and R&B mid-tempo was produced by Hassy B.

“Lady Gaga” is an original composition inspired by Lady Gaga’s trance record ‘Bloody Mary’ – from her 2011 album “Born This Way”. The record is an indirect retort to the music industry’s requirement that all urban artists ‘water-down’ their art and sing ‘pop’ music.

Of the lyrical content, Perry says: “I really wanted to capture that nervous energy you get when you are with someone alone for the first time.”

Perry, who co-wrote Fat Joe’s comeback single “Another Round” featuring Chris Brown has been busy in the studio crafting records with hit producers like: International Dub-Step DJ Rusko (M.I.A, Britney Spears, Kid Cudi), Battleroy (Eminem, Bruno Mars, Chris Brown), and many other musical chart-toppers.

You have to have the all-important skill of consistently psyching yourself out – making yourself believe in a future version of you that is more developed, or more talented, or more skilled, more famous, more wealthy, more amazing than you are at the present. It has to happen every day, and you’re constantly recalibrating as you work and grow and change and get to know yourself. This kind of faith can be exhausting, but when coupled with the necessary work ethic, it makes the difference between those who go far and those that don’t.

Today I’m believing in the better me.

first time at a pro soccer game. first time kicking it with YouTube sensation Alexa Goddard in person.

first time mastering my own records produced by Itai and Adam aka Cloud City

first time performing on the Las Vegas Strip (@ The Cosmopolitan)
