Patience

If you think I've been rather quiet lately or just a little more undercover than usual, you're probably right! But I swear it's not on purpose. It's just that there have been a few major life changes that have made it more difficult to stay completely consistent on the musical side:

Firstly, I graduated from UCLA, poured all my efforts into finding some post-grad employment (so I could afford to stay in Los Angeles with the industry), and finally found a full-time day job at a law firm. The new job is solid - but the work load is so heavy that I've been putting in mad hours of overtime (which means less time for writing/recording).  Graduation also meant the dismantling of my band JP and the Ambassadors, as half the guys moved back up to the Bay after their last quarter. I miss performing with them deeply. Secondly, I ended a serious year-long relationship with beautiful girl. That'll probably keep me writing some hit heartbreak songs for quite some time....but it's still not easy to move on. Thirdly, By the middle of September I will have moved three times in three months.

Oh, and my Twitter (@jarellperry) got shut down! That was seriously devastating.

I say all this to say - REAL LIFE IS NO JOKE. But we are finally winding down all of the material for the mixtape. Release date is now projected early November...for real this time! Going into the studio next week for some real work, hopefully I can get some footage to share.

Patience is a virtue, I have to learn that tip more than anyone else. It's taking a while to adjust but I am more than ready to attack the game again. I could blog for days but I trust you'll hear most of my heart in the music that's about to come out. Get ready.

I have so much to tell you.

I saw this dude perform last week at the Standard's Purple Lounge for dubFrequency's weekly...great energy, wish he played a longer set. The intro track was also produced by my boy Nobody Famous. Listen up!

Nom Nom!

Last night I hit up my friends' private soft-launch of Nom Nom Truck - a mobile street food vendor specializing in Vietnamese banh mi sandwiches and tacos. Good timez had by all - the chicken lemongrass taco was bomblicious. And the Vietnamese iced coffee, yes! Kudos to the crew and CREATLIVE for putting together a dope event - Check the photos by Chris Wu below.

Lately, L.A. has been really buzzing over this gourmet mobile street food craze, myself included. The term "roach-coach" no longer applies as it used to. I'll always remember my first OMG experience with Kogi BBQ almost a year ago, when they only had one truck and it paid regular visits to the UCLA/Westwood apartments...

nom nom nom good....

The new day job is intense.

Which means these posts will be getting shorter and shorter and shorter....

at least until I adjust to balancing the daily full-time (and overtime) grind with my mission to save the world via music. We are about to go into studio soon and polish up some tracks for the upcoming mixtape, I cannot wait. I officially proclaim August do or die month.
