If you think I've been rather quiet lately or just a little more undercover than usual, you're probably right! But I swear it's not on purpose. It's just that there have been a few major life changes that have made it more difficult to stay completely consistent on the musical side:
Firstly, I graduated from UCLA, poured all my efforts into finding some post-grad employment (so I could afford to stay in Los Angeles with the industry), and finally found a full-time day job at a law firm. The new job is solid - but the work load is so heavy that I've been putting in mad hours of overtime (which means less time for writing/recording). Graduation also meant the dismantling of my band JP and the Ambassadors, as half the guys moved back up to the Bay after their last quarter. I miss performing with them deeply. Secondly, I ended a serious year-long relationship with beautiful girl. That'll probably keep me writing some hit heartbreak songs for quite some time....but it's still not easy to move on. Thirdly, By the middle of September I will have moved three times in three months.
Oh, and my Twitter (@jarellperry) got shut down! That was seriously
devastating.
I say all this to say - REAL LIFE IS NO JOKE. But we are finally winding down all of the material for the mixtape. Release date is now projected early November...for real this time! Going into the studio next week for some real work, hopefully I can get some footage to share.
Patience is a virtue, I have to learn that tip more than anyone else. It's taking a while to adjust but I am more than ready to attack the game again. I could blog for days but I trust you'll hear most of my heart in the music that's about to come out. Get ready.
I have so much to tell you.
